Crown of India Restaurant

In diesem Restaurant haben wir seit der Eröffnung als "Crown of India" inzwischen 5 mal abends an Wochentagen gegessen. Jedesmal war die Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, das Essen kam nach ca 20-30 Minuten (wenn es schneller gekommen wäre, hättenwir uns Sorgen gemacht...), alles hat sehr gut geschmeckt und kam so, wie angekündigt. Wir werden jederzeit wieder dort essen. Es ist absolut empfehlenswert, wenn auch nicht so gut wie Ravi's zu seinen besten Zeiten (welche schon über 10 Jahre zurückliegen) oder das Kormasutra als es ganz neu eröffnet hatte (beim ersten Besitzer, also wirklich ganz, ganz neu, vor ca 8 oder 9 Jahren). Trotzdem sicher eines der besseren indischen Restaurants in Zürich. Wer indische Küche mag, sollte es auf jeden Fall ausprobieren. Wir haben dort gegessen: Samosa, Veggi Pakora, viel Garlic Naan, Nimbu Pani, Mango Lassi, Vindalo Gosh (absolut empfehlenswert, auch wenn es ruhig noch etwas schärfer sein dürfte), Chicken Tikka Masala (ist immer gut, auch hier), Tandoori Gerichte sind auch sehr gut, Gemüse Kofta können wir sehr empfehlen. Vermisst haben wir ein Chana Masala oder die Möglichkeit zum Beispiel ein Thali zu bestellen.

We went on a friday and like a previous review received terrible service and the from the time of ordering, took an hour and a half to et our main. We also left without having our dessert because it took so long to arrive. Apparently one of the key staff didn't turn up for work and this was the reason for the slow service. I can accept this, but the service we did get was off handed and at some points rude. We spoke with the owner afterwards and told him that we had been very unhappy and he gave us the impression that he couldn't really care less and that it was beyond his control. The owner really needs to plan his staffing levels better or he'll go out of business. The restaurant is nice, the food is good and the value for money was good. We'd like to try it again at some point (the food was really tasty), but will do so on a Saturday and definitely not at 7.30pm (which according to one of the staff, is the time that everyone arrives and causes a kitchen backup). The staff that were working were clearly very stressed as a result of the workload....

Malev

We booked a table at 7.30pm but didn't get one until 8pm. Between courses, we had to wait one hour!! We even left without having a dessert because of how slow they were plus they didn't even have the dessert we picked from the dessert card. Dishes are not collected from the tables until the end. Very disorganised and not enough staff. The food is just okay.
