Restaurant description

History
This unspoiled corner of the old "Gatum Solium", just outside the south gate of Milan, realm of fields and frogs was inhabited for the first time in the thirteenth century by monks and underwent considerable changes over time.
In the thirteenth century the building, already in its present form, was occupied by the Spaniards, who used it as a police station and later it became the home of the "campè", the guardian who overlooked the waters of the rice fields.
Probably the name, Al Garghet, comes from the rice fields. In ancient Milanese dialect it meant "the croaking of frogs." In our century, the old police station was turned into a furnace and then in a dance hall outside the city walls.
Today the Garghet recovered a bit of its ancient magic: history has given this place a unique atmosphere, and we mix it every day in our natural dishes, which are cooked according to the Lombard tradition, rich with many French, Austrian and Spanish influences.

Dining rooms
Typical Milanese trattoria. A haven on the outskirts of Milan renewed and always well kept. Ideal on hot summer evenings where you can experience the charm of the outdoor dining areas, but also ideal for colder winter months in the indoor dining rooms. The white piano and the romantic music played by our pianist will accompany your dinners at the Al Garghet. A journey of emotions and feelings made of memories and new sensations tied to good company and great food. A comfortable environment in which to spend carefree evenings enjoying local Milanese flavours.

Dishes
All of our pasta, vegetable soups and desserts are homemade, using only natural ingredients.
When the weather permits, we use produce taken directly from our vegetable garden, otherwise we purchase products from our trusted suppliers.
