Restaurant description

The Bärenwirt at the Müllner Hügel is one of the oldest inns in Salzburg. Hospitality has played an important part since 1663. Today the two hoteliers Andreas Felleis and Patrick Knittelfelder run the traditional guesthouse togethter with "their" innkeeper Walter Lanzerstorfer. Their aim is to keep Salzburg's traditional gastronomic cultur alive.
Choose from our menu, the daily reccomendations, the lunch offer or just enjoy Austria's best deep fried chicken.
You can also arrange your celebration at the Bärenwirt: Roast pork with dumpling and „sauerkraut“ and beer from the brewery Augustiner Bräu in a barrel which wil be drawn on your own.

Food source

Tradition and regional loyalties of our dishes and products play a decisive role in our inn Bärenwirt.
Our fishes are from the Schloss Fuschl fishery at Lake Fuschl, a lake with drinking-water quality.
Cows and calves are local animals from Flachgau, one of Salzburg’s districts.
The Hungarian curly coat derives from our own piggery. It lives the whole year outside and is feeded with high class forage – no soya. This type of pig fattening is the most sustainable and the most natural way.
Potatoes and eggs are bought from local farmers from the neighbouring commune Wals.
Bread and pastry come from the bakery Essl from Salzburg.
The original sausage „Salzacher“, developed by Patrick Knittelfelder and Andreas Felleis, is produced by Salzburg’s butcher shop Renner.
